Zourra Ingredient Clinical Evidence
A working bibliography of publicly available, peer-reviewed clinical studies for the key actives in each Zourra formula. Prioritises PubMed/PMC-indexed RCTs, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, journal sources, and regulatory (EFSA) assessments. Every link points to a published source.
Compliance note. Clinical evidence for an ingredient is not the same as permission to make a claim. In GB, only claims on the Great Britain Nutrition and Health Claims (NHC) Register may be used. Authorised vitamin/mineral claims sit under retained EU Regulation 432/2012, built on EFSA NDA Panel opinions. Most botanical health claims remain ‘on hold’, so the studies below support formulation rationale and education, not necessarily on-pack claims. Treat this as a science dossier, not a claims list.
-
Focus Complex
Saffron (Affron®) — mood, stress, focus
Citicoline — attention & memory
CoQ10 (ubiquinol) — cellular energy / fatigue
B6, Zinc, K2, Selenium, D3
These carry authorised EFSA/GB claims (e.g. B6, zinc and selenium contribute to normal cognitive/immune function; D3 and K2 to bone maintenance). Cite via the GB NHC Register rather than individual trials.
-
Magnesium Bisglycinate
Magnesium’s contribution to normal psychological function, muscle function and reduction of tiredness/fatigue is an authorised claim — the strongest footing for messaging.
-
Vitality Complex
Rhodiola rosea — stress-related fatigue
Note: The review concluded the evidence is contradictory; individual RCTs are positive but heterogeneous.
CoQ10 (upgrade ubiquinone → ubiquinol planned)
Pomegranate extract — antioxidant / cardiovascular
Iron bisglycinate — fatigue / iron status
Vitamin C, B6 (P-5-P), Folate (5-MTHF), B12
Authorised claims: each contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and normal energy-yielding metabolism; vitamin C also supports iron absorption and normal collagen formation. Cite via GB NHC Register.
BioPerine® (piperine)
Functions as a bioavailability enhancer, supports absorption of co-nutrients.
-
Harmony Complex
Ashwagandha (KSM-66®) — stress & cortisol
Sage (Salvia officinalis) — vasomotor symptoms
Affron® Saffron — menopausal mood (most on-brand study)
Note: This trial found significant benefit for mood/psychological symptoms.
Red Clover — isoflavones / hot flushes
Vitamin D3, B6, K2
Authorised claims (bone, immune, hormonal/psychological function). Cite via GB NHC Register.
-
Desire Blend
Ashwagandha (KSM-66®) — sexual function & stress
Maca (Lepidium meyenii) — sexual function & menopausal symptoms
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) — menopausal symptoms
Red Clover, Zinc, B6
Red clover as above. Zinc contributes to normal fertility/reproduction and testosterone levels (authorised). Cite via GB NHC Register.
-
Collagen Powder
Hydrolysed collagen — skin elasticity, hydration, wrinkles
Hyaluronic acid — skin hydration & wrinkles
Vitamin C
Authorised claim: contributes to normal collagen formation for skin function. This is the most defensible on-pack skin claim. Cite via GB NHC Register.

Notes on scope. Where an ingredient relies on a vitamin/mineral, the regulatory-grade reference is the GB NHC Register rather than a single trial. For a formal substantiation file, pair each claim you intend to use with the specific authorised wording (vitamins/minerals) or hold the botanical evidence as education-only until claims are clarified.
